Prysor Williams is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management at Bangor University. His work is focused on interdisciplinary areas of pathogen research in the context of soils, water, waste, animals, food, and the social drivers of infections. He interacts with policy-advisers and stakeholders within the Environment Agency, Health Protection Agency, and Public Health Wales. He sits on the Wales Zoonoses Liaison Group and has advised the FSA Food Advisory Committee on the microbial safety of foods. Recent relevant research projects include: NERC-funded project entitled ‘Reducing risk of E. coli O157 in rural communities’; and EU-funded projects on Catchment level survival and infectivity of E. coli O157. He led a government-funded project on different biosecure options for the disposal of dead livestock, which involved working with DEFRA on an application to the EFSA for the approval of a novel disposal technology.
